Oh its a good feeling the weekend..
Describe:
Today was my first normal Friday, the last two weeks were athletics carnival and back to uni day. So I got to see how the morning spelling test and maths assessment block work. I took the maths assessment this morning, went through explicitly the worksheets. Then had some activities to play for those who finished quickly and groups games to play while everyone had finished.
While everyone was still finishing I had some individual and small bored game activities for students to play using simple addition baseboards. When all the students had finished we played a game of 'circle of champions' I rolled a dice and then 2 students had to add the numbers together whoever said it the quickest was the winner. We also played ' Number Bust' students had to dance around the room to music and then stop when the music stopped near to a number. If i called out their number they had to say something about their number.
Analyse:
It was interesting for me to see how to run an assessment with kindergarten. Keeping them quiet for a goo 15 minutes, constantly keeping them on task. Then keeping the students quietly playing a game while others finished I found difficult but managed to make it work.
Plan:
For next time, thinking a little more creatively about independent games or activities that don't involve much noise and distractions for other students.
